The story begins on the last day of school as Yuko Moriguchi, a Japanese middle school science teacher is saying goodbye to her students. Yuko is still grieving the death of her four-year-old daughter who had drown in the school swimming pool earlier in the school year. As part of her last "lecture." she reveals to the class that her daughter's death was not an accident. Two of the students in the class are responsible for the death of little Manami. While she cannot prove that the two thirteen-year-old boys are guilty, she has set a plan in motion to exact her revenge on them.
The story is narrated in alternating voices with twists and turns what will keep you turning the pages to see what will be revealed next.
